Dr. Harris (Hutcheson) has been servicing clients and their horses on the Eastern Shore since 2018. Formerly an employee of Veterinary Medical Center Dr. Harris branched off and is now offering services under Choptank Equine LLC.
We are a full service, mobile equine veterinary practice offering general and emergency care, reproductive services, dentistry, lameness, manipulation therapy (chiropractic), acupuncture, sports medicine and rehabilitation services.

We are incredibly lucky to have added two great vets to the practice recently!
This means you might not see Dr Harris every time you have an appointment and while I love seeing all of you this is such a welcome blessing. This allows me to step back from working 80+ hours a week and on call 24/7/365 and focus a bit more and expand on some things I love doing like Chiro and acupuncture and repro. It also give me more time to not be on call and be home with my expanding family while staying in this industry.
I don’t want to be anything else but the hard reality is it’s extremely difficult to be an equine doctor (vet in general honestly but we have unique challenges) and stay in this part of the industry for an entire career without a good team. Recent statistics tell us that only 3% of veterinarians in the US are in equine practice! AND only 20% of them are under 40 years old, equine veterinarians are becoming a rare find.
I know it’s scary and many are hesitant to see anyone but me but please be open to seeing Dr Morgan Harvey. She is an amazing veterinarian and I would love to keep her in equine for her whole career and you can help me do that. She is never alone, I’m only a phone call away and I would never put my clients in the hands of anyone I don’t trust with your horses. I can’t tell you all how much I appreciate you trusting me and my practice with your horses and I look forward to continuing to do so with our expanding team!
Dr Caitlin Harirs BVMS CERP CVMMP CVA
Owner and senior veterinarian here at Choptank Dr Harris's interests include mentoring aspiring and recently graduated veterinarians, alternative therapies including acupuncture and chiropractic care as well as reproduction and neonatal medicine.
She has been practicing on the eastern shore of Maryland since 2018 and has rooted her family here. In her free time she tends to rack up more certifications so she can better help her patients, enjoy life on the water, her family and her dogs. Dr Harris has a wonderful husband who helps run the practice, a daughter, and a son arriving soon.
Dr Morgan Harvey DVM
Dr. Harvey, an Eastern Shore native, is a 2023 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia, with her DVM and Master's of Public Health. She also has a Bachelor's in Animal Science from Delaware Valley University. During her time at VMCVM she began her veterinary acupuncture certification, which she plans to complete in 2024. Dr. Harvey has interests in podiatry, sports medicine, and nutrition, and is excited to be back home working with some familiar faces in the local equine community. In her free time, she enjoys knitting and crocheting, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and most of all riding her Quarter Horse, Rune, in both English and Western dressage.
